"In the asbsence of light, only shadows remain" is our motto...I think. It was sometime ago (while back) that we voted on it. I don't think we can change it now

Haha I'll take the risk and go there, from a scientific point of view this motto is a non sense : there can be no shadows without light :p
How about "Whenever there is light, there is shadow".
Or "When flies the Phoenix, Shadows remain"

yin your science if flawed. Ask yourself what a shadow is?? It IS THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT!!!!! lol Im smiling as I write this. :D Dont take it the wrong way k?
A shadow is the absence of light. So when all light is gone all that remains IS shadow. If you need a more in depth debate feel free to refute this. :D

True to make a shadow you would need light thats being blocked. But what do you call the shadow when all the light is blocked? Its still a shadow...just a very big one.
But I like that first of your suggestions for a motto.

every ounce of darkness on earth is actually shadow. Shadow from your ceiling blocking the sun, shadow from the earth itself as its other side blocks the sun. All darkness we know is shadow. :P
