Good and Bad
Today I would like to challenge your perceptions of good and evil. What is good? The opposite of evil? Well then what is evil? Lets examine what we, as humans, view as good and evil. Murder... Murder is universally considered to be evil. Helping people... helping people is universally seen as good. Sex.... Sex is universally a subject that sparks many different emotions. Overall it is seen as good. But sex in certain ways is seen as bad. I would like to propose that we as humans take what makes us happy, or feel good, and label it good. And anything that makes us feel bad or uncomfortable we label as evil. We think that murder is evil because it hurts people, and makes us feel bad. We consider helping people to be good, because it makes people feel good, and happy. But what if there is no good or evil. What if all we have is our own perceptions. Some people view sex as an evil thing, but does that make it evil? Most people view robbery as an evil thing, but does that truly make it evil?? The world is full of balances. Dark / light, Cold / hot, male / female. For every good thing that nature offers, there are just as many bad things. Hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, disease, dangerous animals, and insects, etc.. And thats just on the surface. Is it evil when a snake kills a man? Is it evil when a lion kills a zebra? Is it evil when a man kills another man? What if all actions are neutral, and we as humans, have simply labeled them as good and evil. If someone makes you mad, and you kill them, is it evil? Or is it just something that hurts other people? And what about those people who kill people for fun? To them murder isnt evil at all. To them murder is not only fun, but even exhilarating. For them its not a bad thing. Throughout history mankind has celebrated bad people. We love villains. We even write whole books about them. How many of you have a favorite villain? Maybe what we view as evil people, are simply serving a needed purpose. I think that each human just needs to go by how things make them feel inside. In your heart you will know whats bad for you. If killing someone feels like a good thing inside, and it makes you happy... then maybe your simply destined to be a murderer. All things in our world serve a purpose.
