I'd like to use this board, for posting good thoughts, to get our minds working.

Do pets have souls?

Pets can certainly express what appears to be emotions, but do they truly have emotions? I know that dogs can express anger, because I have had dogs attack me, after I have teased them. But was the dog really angry? Or could it be that he was simply operating on a sort of program, that told him you were a threat?
Well, then how do you explain dogs that play with humans? Take the above example. You tease a stray dog enough, and he may attack you. He will certainly be trying to hurt you. However, if you tease a dog that you know well, he may attack you, but in a friendly way. He will bite very soft, and be very gentle with you. Why is that? If dogs are nothing but programs, then what differentiates between a threat, and a play mate?

Maybe it is that the dog knows you, and likes you. Or maybe its just another of the many algorithms that form the dogs program.

What do you think?

Are werewolves real?

Throughout history shapeshifters have been believed in. The majority of those were wolf shapechangers. So then, can we take our history and call it fact? Or do we write it all off as superstitions, and stories?

Well, it would most likely be very painful to change into another shape, but is it even possible? How can more mass come from a lesser mass? I think if it is possible that it is a magical occurrence. Its the only way that makes sense right?

So then if they are real, then why are they here? Is it because we do not have many natural predators? Is it because they are an earlier race that has survived in secrecy... maybe a race that we thought we wiped out long ago?

Are dragons real?

We all know that dinosaurs once ruled the earth right?
Well, then one could say that dinosaurs were dragons, but were they really?
I mean men claim to have seen and even fought dragons.... So then current beliefs on dinosaurs do not match up with dragon mythos.

I challenge you to consider the following. To properly date anything living, we need to know how much of the measured substance (carbon etc.) that the organism gave off at birth, and then throughout its life cycle. For instance, human bones contain a certain amount of carbon at birth, and produce a certain amount during the normal course of a life. Then after they have been dead they begin to produce a certain known amount, therefor it can be measured and then determined. However, we have never had a living dinosaur, much less one who has given birth to a newborn for us to study. So do we really know how old their bones are?

Also you can measure the layers of earth covering the remains of anything found underground, to determine how old it may be. This method just measures the amount, and type of earth layers that cover the found object, to determine how long it may have been underground or buried. However, other unkowns make this method tricky as well. For instance, could a very old mudslide have covered the object, causing it to appear to be older than it is? Many other natural disasters could interfere with accuracy in that method.

So then, we come to human accounts of seeing living breathing dragons. Tall reptile like beings, usually with sharp teeth. I find mans account to be way too close to have been simple fantasy. Is it possible that dragons and dinosaurs are one in the same, and that ancient man had truly lived amongst these giants???

Think about it.

Are crazy people really crazy?

I wonder.... What if crazy people really just have the ability to see into another dimension? Or maybe they genuinely do have voices talking to them... Maybe spirits? Maybe the ones who think they are someone they are not, are simply tuning in to another dimension where they ARE that person? And the people who seem to be a stuck record... Is it possible that they simply have abandoned their body while their soul ventured off into some strange dimension or reality?

Quantum physics tells us that alternate universes may possibly exist. So what if crazy people are just people who for some reason can view one of these alternate universes, or even the spirit realm itself?

Just something to think about.

Love...

What is love? What use does it have? Can love exist without purpose? Can it be random? Or are we guided? Are we truly destined to be with that special someone?

Without believing in any religions or deities, or fate / destiny. What purpose does love serve? It causes a mother to protect her babies. But it also causes people to kill themselves... It seems to be a two sided blade, this thing called love. As for its purpose, maybe we have the emotion of love so that we will procreate and have a better chance of our offspring surviving. Maybe we have evolved so that we provide the absolute best chance for our babies to survive in this world. Think about it for a moment. A child with one parent in a harsh ancient environment.... Its chances would not be as good as if it has two parents. One to watch the baby and one to gather food to feed them. Maybe we simply evolved a sense of love. Also who better to protect the pregnant mother than the father who loves her? Love is a powerful thing, but is it simply something our brains developed to protect our offspring?

Maybe love is deeper than that. Maybe we all come from one soul that splits apart into two people when we are born. And maybe our souls guide us to our other half... Or maybe we dont have that one special soul mate. Maybe we just have compatible spirits? Maybe we have loved that person before in another life? Maybe love is a bond not only forged to protect our young, but maybe its something we have always had. Maybe we fall in love because we need love.... We need to feel loved, we need to love something or someone. So then is love more than just a brain reaction to need? Is is something deeper that we cannot explain?

Just some food for thought.

Aliens.

Are they real?? Are they just fiction?? Lets assume they are real for this discussion.

Would they look like us? Would they think like us? Or would they come from a planet so different that we would even know they were alive if we saw them? Maybe we do see them..... Germs and bacteria anyone?? They are VERY VERY small "Organisms" That latch onto us or into us and do many different things. Maybe they dont originate on our planet? Maybe they do..... What about ghosts? What if they are just aliens trying to make contact? Maybe they arent in our plane of existence. Maybe WE are the only race that is in this plane. Maybe there are MILLIONS of other races all in another more dominate plane of existence?? Maybe they think we are ghosts on their planets..... Or maybe they dont even have planets.....

What if aliens inhabited our earth before we did..... What if dinosaurs were the original race, and we are the ones who cam here, killed them off, and took over their planet?? In many religious explanations of how mankind came to earth, the dinosaurs or great serpent/s had to die first. Sound familiar? What if all aliens look identical to us? Maybe they even live in similar worlds. Maybe they are even here with us know and we dont even know it. Maybe they gave us some of our more advanced technologies to help us advance?? Maybe......

What do you think on the subject??

Templates.

You ever see someone that looks a LOT like someone else you know, or have seen? I have a great example of what I am talking about. Go watch some old episodes of knight rider with david hasslehoff. Now go watch an episode of the wb's "supernatural" The leather jacket wearing brother looks a LOT like a young david hasslehoff.

So what I am suggesting here is that maybe we are all made of base d.n.a. templates. Lots of people dont just look alike, but they even act similar.... Maybe we are all made of a base D.N.A. template but then we get some of our mothers and fathers custom genes to make us slightly different.

Just some food for thought.

Nudity.

If a woman shows herself naked people say things like. Dont you have more respect for yourself??? Shes such a whore, etc.. However if a man shows himself nude people just call him a pervert, or more frequently guys are such pigs. As a society we are used to this but what are we really saying? Is nudity really evil? Does it really devalue a person? Lets examine babies for a moment. We dont mind seeing naked babies at all. Not even naked toddlers. Some people even think its cute. So then at what age does nudity become evil? 5? 6? People might say, but the toddler doesnt know any better. Unfortunately its not that simple, you see its the parent who dresses the baby, and thus it is the parent who doesnt mind the nudity. The parent is absolutely ok with seeing their toddler naked, yet they call a full grown woman a whore for it.

Why do we humans look down upon those of us who choose to reveal the wonderful work of art that we are? If a woman wants to show the world how beautiful her nude body is, is it really a sin or a defacing act? Or is it really just our nature? To want other humans to admire our bodies, to want other humans to desire our bodies. Now I'm not talking about sexual acts, I'm only talking about showing your nude body to people. What in us makes us hate people who get nude? Is it jealousy? Is it religious zealotry? Scientists conclude that we first started wearing clothing (skins or whatever) to keep warm, and protect from bites etc.. NOT to cover our beautiful bodies. So then at what point did it become such a horrible thing to be naked in front of people?

Some say, Well if we all ran around nude we would be raping each other!!! Thats simply laughable. If we had never started wearing clothing to begin with nudity would not be anything new, or naughty or sinful. It would just be us in our purist form. We humans have decided to make nudity naughty and sinful. It was our choice to make and we made it. However ludicrous it may be. So then does nudity really cheapen a person? Does it really mark them as a whore or slut or pervert? Or does it simply mark us as a shameful culture?

So then, think about this. Do people who get nude in front of others (Magazines movies, nudist colonies, etc..) Piss you off? Or are you accepting of the human nude body being shown to others? And now more importantly, ask yourself WHY you feel the way you feel.
