I was wondering if you can do a philosophy on exorcisms

Exorcims.

Do demons exist? And if so which religion describes them best? Are they all servants to a greater evil? Or are they all fending for themselves?
Do they cower down at the mention of a deities name, or do they mock the good deities? Do they truly fear good, or do they laugh at it?


Lets examine this. In many good religions across time, and the world, evil entities exist. In many different cultures, and religions, the mention of the good deities has been said to repel the evil entities. Many different religions even have rituals, and ceremonies with which to expel these entities. (demons) In these rituals, many different things are done. But the overall consensus is that true faith in the good deities / deity, is the key ingredient to expelling any evil entity.

I would like to propose to you that it doesnt matter what your religion is, as long as you believe it to be a good religion in your heart. If you have true faith in your chosen GOOD religion, you will automatically have some protection against evil entities. We can deduce from various religions beliefs, that evil is repelled by good. Therefore, good thoughts or love, forgiveness, and understanding, might also work against demons.



Now then lets examine why demons would wish to possess someone. Is it a punishment for some past wrong? Is it to teach a lesson? Or is it simply a game for the demon? Id like to propose that its merely a game for the demon. From all the possessions I have heard of, the demon seems to like upsetting people, and overall causing havoc. It doesnt seem to have any important message, or goal. It simply seems to be having fun. IT takes over the body, and then has its fun spreading its evil where it can, and then either kills the host, or gets exorcised.



Another possibility, is aliens. Otherworldly enities.
Maybe they take over certain peoples bodies, and nobody ever even notices something wrong. But then maybe some people resist the alien, and in doing so appear to be possessed by evil. Some possessions, are fairly benign. The person just acts differently, and seems more angry than normal. This could easily be an alien fighting for control of its host.
This could also be used to explain insanity. Various mental illnesses, could be seen as possession by an entity, or alien. The person sees things, or hears voices..... This is also symptoms of possession. The person mumbles to themself, and acts very sporadic. Again symptoms of possession as well.


Maybe mental illness in some cases is truly just a failed possession, or an ongoing one, where the invader doesnt want to relinquish control of the host.
